Title: Highland Birch
Size: 36" x 24" (915 x 610mm)
Medium: Oil on canvas
Style: Impressionist
Date: 2007-02-20
Price: Sold
Information: I was inspired by the texture of trees, braken and grasses .. with light coming through the trees illuminating the spaces between, with broad horizontal bands in the sky, distant trees and bracken and thin vertical stripes in the Birches and the light that passes through them. A quite sizable painting that is bright and cheerful yet the colours are reminiscent of traditional Scottish tarten.

Price: £200.00
Information: Continuing my efforts to "Loosen up" I have produced this painting in oils, its size is 20cm x 20cm on a 3D canvas. I love the combination of blue and yellow and in this form it is particularly powerful. 3D canvases are fairly new to me I like them because they create added depth to the painting making it possible to view the painting from almost any angle. |

Size: 1.5 x 1.2m
Medium: Oil on canvas
Style: Impressionist
Date: 2009-07-16
Price: £3500.00
Information: Title; Lost connection Medium; Oil on canvas Style; Impressionist Size; 1.5 x1.2m A man is walking a dog early in the morning, the sun is streaming through the trees casting long golden shafts of light, a Robin sits on a branch making the most beautiful song but the man does not hear it becuase he is talking on a mobile phone and only partialy conscious of the beauty that surrounds him. He is completely unaware of all the wild animals that live there and are aware of his presence, standing still to watch this alien to thier world, wondering what he will do! Lost connection is about our ever increasing distance from nature and all the wonders and magic that exist as part of that. It is about how we "visit" natural places to see them, but are no longer part of them, and how we actualy only see a fraction of what's really there. |

Title: Tawny Owl
Size: 280 x 408 mm 11x16
Medium: Watercolour on Paper
Style: Realistic
Date: 2007-02-20
Price: Sold
Information: The subject was a captive bird at Birdworld in Hampshire. Sketches were made directly from observation, photographs were taken and later used to continue the painting. The branch was painted directly from life, as was the lady bird on the branch. A side view was preferred as I wanted to create a sense of movement but without using a in-flight position. The Ladybird creates some additional interest, colour and further enhances a sense of direction. There is no background because I like the viewer to focus on the subject without any distraction of a background. |
